I think I'll play a doctor who was in the army. An older guy who fought in the Spanish-American war. That's what I'm thinking.

That's a good one. Not that you'll need a doctor who is used to treating traumatic injuries, but one never does know.

Can I be an exotic dancer? I'll even come to the game in costume, if that'll help.

In the town the game will play out in there are two main opportunities for entertainers, either something burlesqey (sp?) at the local speakeasy or as a performer in the local playhouse's production a whimzical new farce, "The Vicar's Trousers". Either one would be a hoot, but you'd either be far from famous or perhaps near the end of a career. Boston is the nearest big city where a dancer might come from, but I have no idea how they'd get involved in this scenario.

burlesque stripper at a local speakeasy it is, I'm thinking a long time chainsmoking Marylin Monroe in her fourties with way too much makeup and far too few feathers to cover her ample busom and birthin' hips!

That's cool. Knowing what character you want ahead of time really helps me write it into the story and should give the whole thing more depth. So for the rest of you, if ya don't tell me ahead of time what you want to be your experience might be a bit more generic. Paul's old doctor and Jaime's old stripper are both good, but enough old people already, someone needs a fighting chance to live to the end. Oh just kidding. The emphasis here won't be on combat, at least until y'all steer it in that direction. I'm running this same scenario for my Bro and Paul D. and I've had to tailor a version for them that's a bit stupider than what I expect to run for youse guys. Y'all are better players and I will have to write a bit more to make it a satisfying experience for ya.
The three character types that I hope make it into play are (in order of importance maybe?) scientist/prof., parapsychologist, and reporter/author, they at least will be the people who would have the most classic Cthulhu reasons for getting involved in these events in the summer of 1927.

No! No stripper costumes!
Of course, if you want to treat us to your version of Nasy Girl we would understand!

David and I witnessed it (the Purple Pixie-man) at the same time. We are both blind! Pete, how ever could you do such a horrible thing to your friends? :!:

The Call of Cthulhu thing I'm planning isn't really long. I'd be happy to run D&D at some point after that. I have a Players Handbook and DM's Guide for the version 3 d20 system rules. I think they have done a lot with D&D to keep it exciting and dynamic, and for the system to work well at high levels. I love what they've done with mutli-classing also.

Pete, I think I'll go the parapsychologist route for the C.O.C. game. Probably a crackpot researcher at a university in Boston. Get ready for me to test people's auras.
