I would assume (and I am wrong every now and then  ) that the Hungarians are a mercenary army working for the Genoans, the timing seems to accurate. They could just be opportunists but they are far from home and Do have a history of being mercs(I think, don't really know)

If they are mercs, maybe we can buy them away from the Genoans.  Surelythe Toreadors have ample cash lying around, what with being fancy-pants artists and all.  And whats good for Venice is good for the Toreadors.

by way of clarification, some things you would know. Genoa is primarily Ventrue and Bruja, both clans being very businesslike and fiscally minded (read mob), while the eastern european countries such as Hungary and Romania are largely populated by Tzimisce and Nosferatu, both clans tending to scheme and plot their every move. It's rumored that the Tzimisce are explorers of new and devastating magics of the body while very little is known about the Nosferatu at all.
