I have been thinking about our combat methods. I think next Thursday we should take a few min's to come up with a few staggered marching orders that will lead to less bottle necking.

Perhaps be a bit more spread out as we trek the dungeons.  Not too spread out or positioned too far behind each other, but spread in a way that will lead to looser more agile close quarters fighting.

We could come up with several set marching orders we can fall back on in tough situations.

One I have been thinking about it

up front, Loken searching stuff out with Ginlok or Kael and either Brand or Shotoku a good 10 to 15 feet behind, single file. then about another 20 feet behind them, Kael/Ginlok and either Brand or Shotoku  then myself and behind me Nyther and Woodhope.

In this grouping I could cover both the front and back of the party with at at least one other fighter to either rush ahead to mainline combat with the other fighter or fall back to support the rear. The two heavy magic users Nyther and Woodhope could advance from this position easily if we are staggered to cast and support the front line combat or stay and cast from where they are or advance slowly as they cast.

Loken would either fall back to a position of strength and support melee combat, or try to run out of eye sight, hide in shadows and them come out and do backstabbing/ flanking at the frontline foes rears.

I could stay put and fight against the front liners and protect the rear or when necessarily, rush up front and target magic users/other ranged foes casting/range fighting against us

Brand and Shotoku would be able to access their situations and either cast or if needed go up and support melee combat. The key would be to leave some space between all of us so we don't get bunched up in dungeons so easily. Sure every combat is different and we would have to adjust to fit them.

This is just one idea for a marching/combat order, but I think it would benefit us to map out a few formations for future fights so we don't take so much damage unnecessarily.

Also I think a good rule would be, if anyone finds themselves below 5 hit points and is in a heavy situation where the fight won't be over soon, and has means of retreating out of immediate danger, then they must to try to get some healing.

Another good rule of combat is when you notice an enemy has taken some damage, that enemy should then be a priority so we are not spreading out our damage and prolonging fights. Especially if it is a particularly dangerous foe.

With lesser foes then we could go willy nilly, but with some of the things we were facing last night, then when possible we should pile on to take out threats faster so the lessen the possibility of these beasts hanging around and attacking us longer than need be

These are just some thoughts on improving our combat effectiveness as we head into much more dangerous foes.

That sounds well thought out and tediously military. I'll happily leave these martial matters to those more qualified provided I have some cover in these hairy situations.

The two heavy magic users Nyther and Woodhope...

While I would never presume to speak for Nyther, I maintain a svelte figure and a vigorous workout regimen to complement my thaumaturgical studies.
