Can I refill your water glass?

I just finished "A Game of Thrones" by George Rail Road Martin. It was quite good, so much so that I purchased the next volume, "Clash of Kings" but I have only read the first page.

My neighbor, an elderly woman who I help whenever she needs a lightbulb changed or something lifted/moved, foisted "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell on me. I put off reading it (quite easily, in fact) while I finished the Martin book, but now I feel a little guilty since she said she wanted to read it again (and how much time can she have left?). I'm almost half-way through. It's a quick read, conversational with several pages taken up entirely by charts which are easy to breeze by. I would consider recommending it, but every publication in America is already doing so.

Too true about the press on "Outliers."  I am reading the ninth book in Simon R. Green's Nightside series, "The Healthy Dead," by Steven Erikson (takes place in his Malazn world but follows two minor necromancer characters), and articles on rhetoric for science writing.

"articles on rhetoric for science writing", sounds gripping. Who's the main character? Is this a continuation of the adventures of old Mother Tongue?

Let's see:

While pooping I'm reading the latest issue of Game Informer.

When not pooping I'm reading "No Country for Old Men", which is a lighthearted romp after reading "The Road"

Just finished "Silk" by Caitlin R. Kiernan.

Now reading the SF short story collection "Fast Forward 2," most of which is quite good. Great stuff from Pat Cadigan, Cory Doctorow, Nancy Kress, Paolo Bacigalupi, etc.

The Ionian Mission by Patrick O'brien, different speed but entertaining for any historical fiction buffs...

I'm reading "Head First Design Patterns" - which really is more entertaining than it sounds, at least if you speak Java.

"...I'm fluent in JavaScript as well as Klingon..."

The book sounds better than "Ass First Design Patterns".

I'm reading "The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oskar Wao" which is pretty good at 50 pages in.  Just finished "Sharp Teeth" by Toby Barlow.  it was a book-length, free verse poem about werewolves.  Nice to see some genre fiction get a nice treatment.

"Sharp Teeth" was pretty cool. I got that at the company book sale for $1.

I finished "No Country for Old Men". That was really good, I even liked it more than "The Road" which I really liked. I'm impressed at what a faithful adaptation the Cohen brothers did, you don't often see that.
Now that I've finished Fallout 3 I can start reading again. Unless I get hooked on Mass Effect. Oh well.

Somebody else just recommended that book to me. I might have to hit you up for a loan...if I can pull myself away from the Martin epic.
